Operation Outdoor Independence is supported by a grant from ParksCA. ParksCA’s unique multi-stakeholder partnership approach strengthens communities while fostering love and stewardship of public lands. The grant of $40,000 will help more people have access to the resources they need to lead a healthy life outside. Our program is specifically designed to facilitate increased participation in outdoor recreation by populations typically underrepresented in such activities. The yearlong program will teach students at Roosevelt High School in South Fresno everything they need to know to properly plan and execute solo outdoor trips or to organize trips for family and friends. ParksCA was founded as a key nonprofit partner of the California Department of Parks and Recreation to help strengthen and inspire all to experience these extraordinary places, and South Fresno Outdoor Adventures is proud to work with them as a partner organization. Follow along here to watch our trainings and adventures as our students grow and learn to be Outdoor Independent!
